Out and About

We are so lucky here in north Pembrokeshire to have an abundance of natural beauty all around us. Within a mile of Newport itself, there are 3 walk to beaches, a mountain to climb and some of the most stunning coastline you will ever discover.

Walking

pembrokeshire-coast-path

Pembrokeshire Coast path: Lonely planet have called it “one of the best long-distance trails in the world”. It truly is breathtaking; 186 miles of unspoilt and beautiful coastline lying almost entirely within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. You can enjoy an amazing display of wildlife, birds, and coastal flowers during your walk which you may choose to take in small sections (it takes an average of 10-15 days to walk the full length!). You may wish to take advantage of the coastal bus service which can pick you up or drop you off at certain stages along the walk.
For more information on the Coastal path, visit Pembrokeshire coast path page.

carningli-mountain

To the south of Newport is Carningli Mountain which offers some of the best views of the north Pembrokeshire countryside. It is riddled with cairns and even the remains of an Iron Age fort surround the summit. More information on Carningli Mountain.

Biking

If you would like some ideas for routes whilst you are here then please ask! Richard is a keen road cyclist and can offer some beautiful and challenging route ideas. We can provide secure storage if you do bring a bike and Richard also has all the tools you may need in an emergency!

If you wanted to hire a bike during your stay, there is also bike hire available in Newport.

Foraging

If you are interested in this, there is a local guide in Newport offering some really interesting seaside and countryside foraging courses – also, a great way to get to know the area at the same time!

Painting

You could take home a little bit of the outdoors home with you after enjoying a 3-hour outdoor watercolour painting workshop. Visit Art on the Pembrokeshire Coast.

The above are just a small selection of what is on offer locally – we know most of the coast and most of the activity providers in the area so we are quite happy to help you discover a new adventure whilst you are staying with us, feel free to ask.
